RECARO Automotive, a legendary name in high-performance car seats, is accelerating into the future with a renewed focus on innovation, quality, and global expansion. After a challenging period that saw the brand enter self-administration in 2024, RECARO has emerged stronger, thanks to a strategic investment from Italy’s Proma Group. This partnership marks a critical turning point, blending German engineering with Italian craftsmanship to redefine the brand’s legacy in the global automotive market.
In January 2025, Proma Group, a global leader in automotive components with an annual turnover of €1.1 billion, officially acquired a significant stake in RECARO. The agreement, signed in December 2024, ensures the brand’s continuity in Germany while expanding its footprint across Europe. Key operations, including sales, marketing, program management, and engineering, remain anchored in Stuttgart, while production is ramping up at Proma’s Caselette facility near Turin.

Italy at the Heart of RECARO’s Revival
One of the cornerstones of this renewed strategy is the Caselette site, which is set to become a RECARO Campus, expanding both its manufacturing capacity and workforce. This site, already assembling premium seats for the European market, aims to become a global hub for the brand, reinforcing the strategic value of Made in Italy within a broader, global manufacturing vision. Proma’s extensive network, which includes 25 plants across three continents, provides RECARO with a flexible, responsive, and specialized production model, crucial for maintaining its competitive edge.
Luca Pino, CEO of RECARO Automotive, commented, “Our investment in RECARO Automotive strengthens our ability to deliver premium seating products while embracing cutting-edge innovation. As an Italian, I am proud to see how well Italian manufacturing excellence is recognized and valued worldwide.”
Revving Up for a New Era
As part of its comeback, RECARO showcased its latest products at the GERCollector Trackday on May 1, 2025, at the legendary Nürburgring circuit. Motorsport enthusiasts tested RECARO seats in high-performance vehicles and shared overwhelmingly positive feedback, reinforcing the brand’s premium reputation. This summer, RECARO will take center stage at the MIMO – Milano Monza Motor Show and the Turin Auto Show, highlighting its commitment to motorsport and aftermarket customization. The RECARO Parade, set for June 27 at the Monza National Circuit, promises to be a moving tribute to the brand’s legacy, featuring iconic vehicles equipped with RECARO seats from around the world.
