POLITICS
-Presidential Elections 2024: The Constitutional Court of Romania (CCR) rejected on Monday the request of presidential candidate Cristian Terhes, to cancel the results of the first round of voting, with the second round to take place on December 8.
-Parliamentary Election2024: AEP – final results for the Senate: PSD – 22.30%, AUR – 18.30%, PNL – 14.28%
Final results for Chamber of Deputies: PSD – 21.96%, AUR – 18.01%, PNL – 13.20%.
ECONOMY
-A total of 4,689,950 pensioners were registered in Romania last month, 16,841 fewer than in October, and the average pension was 2,740 lei ( approx. 551 euro), according to data centralised by the National House of Public Pensions (CNPP).
– Industrial production prices for the total (domestic market and non-domestic market) fell by 3.3% in
October 2024 compared to October 2023, the National Institute of Statistics (INS) data showed.
-New car registrations increased by 2.6% in January-November 2024 on an annual basis, data from the Automotive Manufacturers and Importers Association (APIA) showed.
-Between July 1- November 17, 2024, Romania was, by far, the biggest wheat exporter in EU, with 2.524 million tons, , the European Commission announced.
-In 2023, the port of Constanta had the second growth among European ports for the quantity of manipulated goods, Eurostat said.
FINANCE
-The Ministry of Finance (MoF) raised 75 million lei from banks on Tuesday, the National Bank of Romania (BNR) data showed.
-The arrears of the consolidated general budget grew by 1.9% in October 2024 to 597.2 million RON, from 585.7 million RON in September, MoF data showed.
-The shareholders of investment fund Fondul Proprietatea approved, in yesterday’s meeting, the delisting of the fund’s global depositary receipts (GDR) from the London Stock Exchange and for a buyback program for a maximum number of 320 million shares in 2025, among others.
-Banca Transilvania Group announced the first merger among subsidiaries acquired in 2024 (namely BT Leasing and OTP Leasing) from Hungary-based OTP Group, one of the leading financial groups in Central and Eastern Europe.
-Total loans granted to individuals and in payment stood at EUR 37.4 billions in September 2024, up 6.6% compared to 2023’s year-end, with increases recorded both in the mortgage loans segment and in consumer loans, according to a market report released by online broker Ipotecare.ro and financial consulting and mortgage lending company SVN Credit Romania.
COMPANIES
-The National Council of Small and Medium Private Enterprises in Romania (CNIPMMR) launched the first edition of the “White Paper of Romanian Agriculture” 2024. In 2023, the average net monthly salary in the agricultural sector was almost 3,600 RON, approximately 25% lower than the national average, the survey reveals.
