-In Q3 2024 the employment rate for the working age population (15-64 years) in Romania was 63.3%, down 1.1% on a quarterly basis, data from the National Institute of Statistics showed.

FINANCE

-Romanian Finance Minister Marcel Boloș has announced that he discussed with the European Commission representatives the increase in state-owned banks Exim Bank and CEC Bank’s capital, Ziarul Financiar reported.

-US-based Franklin Templeton, the manager of Romanian investment fund Fondul Proprietatea, has initiates the process of delisting the fund’s GDRs from the London Stock Exchange. “The GDRs listing on the London Stock Exchange has met its purpose as liquidity appears to have flowed back to the local market due to the broadening of the foreign institutional investor base active in Romania” the manager said.

-French real estate group Catinvest is expanding its presence in the Romanian region of Oltenia by opening Aparthotel Craiova, folllowing an EUR 12 million investment.

-NEPI Rockcastle, the premier owner and operator of shopping centres in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE), is set to build over 400 apartments in Brasov and Craiova next year and considers opening a hotel in the extension of Bucharest’s Promenada mall.

-MedLife, the largest network of private healthcare services in Romania, opened Medici’s Hospital, a multidisciplinary facility in Timisoara, following an investment of over EUR 25 million.
