ECONOMY

The Romanian government approved on Thursday, February 6, the procedure for applying the mechanism for establishing and updating the minimum pretax basic salary in the country. This measure completes the transposition of Directive (EU) 2022/2041, aimed at ensuring an adequate minimum wage for all workers.

FINANCE

-The Ministry of Finance (MF) launched on February 7 a new public offering for Fidelis government bonds, open until February 14. This marks the first offering on the Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB) in 2025 and the 21st since the program’s resumption in July 2020. In its previous 20 offerings, the Ministry of Finance raised over RON 40.9 billion (EUR 8.3 billion) from individual investors. The Fidelis IPO includes six issues, two in EUR and four in RON, with one dedicated to blood donors. The trading debut for these bonds is expected on February 20.

-Green Tech International, owner of one of the largest geothermal well portfolios in Europe and a platform for geothermal energy solutions, marks today, February 7, the debut of share trading on the Regulated Market of the Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB), under the ticker symbol GREEN. It is the first company to list on the stock exchange this year, following four other bond listings that took place in January. The IPO preceding the listing of the company’s shares took place between 19 and 30 December 2024.

-Green Tech International, one of Europe’s largest geothermal well portfolio owners, debuted on the Regulated Market of the Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB) today, February 7, under the ticker symbol GREEN. This marks the first stock listing of 2025, following four bond listings in January. The IPO took place between December 19-30, 2024, raising significant investor interest.

Hellas Direct, a leading insurance company celebrating two years in Romania, reaffirmed its long-term commitment by investing over €68 million in assets generated locally back into the Romanian market. This move aims to expand its services and strengthen its presence.

COMPANIES

-Electrica, a key player in Romania’s electricity distribution and supply market, announced that it has completed the acquisition of Crucea Power Park (CPP), a company specializing in wind energy generation.

-A new Randstad Romania HR Trends 2025 study reveals that over 80% of Romanian employers plan to raise salaries this year. Most salary increases are expected to be between 6% and 10%.
