MARKET MOVING NEWS

ECONOMY

-According to the National Statistics Institute (INS), industrial production prices for Romania rose 4% year-on-year in February 2025 and 3.6% month-on-month compared to January 2025.

FINANCE

-Groupama maintained its position as market leader in Romanian insurance, ending 2024 with RON 4.4 billion in gross underwritten premiums, a 7% increase year-on-year, in line with data from ASF, the market regulator.

-eVOTE, the digital platform for General Shareholders’ Meetings, has expanded its services with eVotePRO, targeting institutional investors. The new tool launched on April 2, marking a step forward in digital corporate governance.

-Oil Terminal Constanța (OIL.RO) announced that its majority shareholder, the Energy Ministry (87.8% stake), has requested at least 90% of the 2024 net profit to be distributed as dividends/payments to the state, per a Government-approved Memorandum.

-Conpet Ploiești, the state-owned crude oil pipeline operator, projects a net profit of RON 44.3 million in 2025, down 10.4% from 2024, with revenue expected to rise 2.7% to RON 629.4 million.

-Agricover Group, a key agribusiness player, reported a 66.5% increase in operating profit for 2024, reaching RON 92.4 million. EBITDA for agribusiness operations tripled to RON 20.3 million — underscoring sector strength.

COMPANIES

-Medicover, the Swedish-owned private healthcare group and Romania’s third-largest medical provider, has acquired Synlab’s operations in Romania, Türkiye, Cyprus, Slovenia, Croatia, and North Macedonia. The deal value totals EUR 71.3 million, reinforcing Medicover’s presence in Southeast Europe.

-BYD, the Chinese electric vehicle giant, is in advanced discussions with Țiriac Auto, Romania’s largest dealership network, to open a showroom in Bucharest, according to Ziarul Financiar. The move would mark another milestone in BYD’s strategic European expansion.
