CAPITAL MARKET COMMENTARY
Romanian equities traded mostly lower on Friday in line with rest of Europe where market participants remained concerned about trade negotiations and data showing German factory orders decreased by 1.4% while French industrial output declined 0.5% in May. Bucharest’s benchmark BET index lost 0.26%, closing at 18,614.05 points, while the BET-TR index also fell 0.26% settling at 43,108.38 points. The downward trend was reflected across all local indices but three: the BET FI which gained 0.28% to finish at 61,449.21 points. The BET NG which dropped 0.11% to end at 1,351.39 and the BET-BK which ticked up 0.03% to settle at 3,523.39 points. Among blue-chip stocks, BRD stood out, leading the losses with a sharp fall of 2.12%. Today’s traded value tood at RON 51.62 mln (EUR 10.20 mln). The market capitalization of the Main segment stood at RON 393.67 bn (EUR 77.80 bn). |

KEY SECTOR DEVELOPMENTS
FINANCE
Moneycorp, one of the largest providers of international payments and foreign exchange services, has decided to exit the Romanian market, signaling a strategic shift in its European operations.
The Ministry of Finance is conducting a new Fidelis government bond offering between July 4–11, aimed at retail investors. This marks the sixth Fidelis issuance on the Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB) in 2025 and the 26th since the program’s relaunch in July 2020. To date, RON 51.6 billion (EUR 10.4 billion) has been raised from individual investors through these offerings.
The mergers and acquisitions market in Romania saw 122 deals in the first half of 2025, with a total value exceeding EUR 2.7 billion, according to PwC Romania. Compared to H1 2024, this represents a 6% increase in deal volume and a 4% rise in value, signaling cautious optimism amid a shifting economic landscape.
HEALTHCARE
MedLife (M.RO), a leading private healthcare services provider, announced that its CEO and largest individual shareholder, Mihai Marcu, sold 2 million shares on Friday at a price of RON 6.75 per share. The transaction was disclosed to the Bucharest Stock Exchange, reflecting internal strategic adjustments.
REAL ESTATE
According to data from Storia, the real estate platform owned by OLX, nationwide rents were flat in June compared to May, but rose 5% year-on-year, with Bucharest rents up more than 9%. The capital continues to lead rental price increases amid high urban demand.
RETAIL & CONSUMER
French retail giant Carrefour is reportedly considering a full withdrawal from Central and Eastern Europe, including Romania, amid ongoing struggles to define a sustainable business model in rapidly evolving regional markets. The information was reported by ZF.
