Land Market Stability: Romania’s land market demonstrated resilience in 2024, with transaction volumes holding steady at approximately EUR 450 million, mirroring 2023 figures. This stability occurred despite prevailing economic and political uncertainties, as reported by Colliers.

FINANCE

Government Bond Auctions: The Ministry of Finance successfully raised RON 2.02 billion from banks on March 10th through two government bond auctions, with average annual yields of 6.64% and 7.39%, respectively.

State Bank Capitalization: The 2025 budget law includes proposed capital increases for state-owned banks: RON 1 billion (EUR 200 million) for CEC Bank and RON 1.25 billion (EUR 250 million) for Exim Banca Românească. These increases are subject to European Commission approval.

Regional Investment Surge: Romanian investors significantly increased their regional acquisition activity in 2023, spending EUR 577 million, a threefold increase compared to 2022, according to the Emerging Europe M&A Report 2024/2025 by CMS and EMIS.

Tech Acquisition: AROBS Transilvania Software, a prominent Bucharest Stock Exchange-listed tech company, has completed the acquisition of SVT Electronics, a transportation electronics developer based in Targu-Mures, which had a RON 11 million turnover and RON 4.5 million profit in 2024.

Innovation Hub: NYSE-listed IBM, in collaboration with Amazon Web Services (AWS), has launched a new Innovation Lab in Bucharest at the IBM Client Innovation Centre, serving clients across 22 countries.
