Only 1 in 10 Romanians feels they have saved enough money to meet their financial needs, according to a tbi bank survey. Only 11.4% of respondents believe they managed to save adequately in 2024.
Romania has one of the lowest active working population rates in the EU at 66%, compared to the European average of 74% in 2023, according to Social Monitor, a project by the Friedrich Ebert Foundation Romania.
Bucharest remains the leader in Romania for highest salaries, with an average net wage of RON 6,690, according to the National Institute of Statistics (INS). Timiș County follows with RON 6,649 per month (November 2024). Cluj County ranks third with an average net salary of RON 6,245
FINANCE
-The Agency for Rural Investment Financing (AFIR) approved EUR 259.3 million in financing for 102 investment projects focused on processing.
COMPANIES
ELI Parks, a major developer in Romania’s logistics and industrial market, has fully leased phase one of ELI Park Iași (21,000 sqm) and plans an additional 10,000 sqm expansion due to growing demand in northeastern Romania.
Holde Agri Invest (HAI.RO), listed on the AeRO market of the Bucharest Stock Exchange, secured a RON 5 million loan from SevenX Ventures, which holds 13.7% of the company.
OMV Petrom, Romania’s sole oil and gas producer, has begun construction of a sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) and renewable diesel (HVO) production unit at the Petrobrazi refinery.
Early Game Ventures, a leading Romanian VC fund, announced the biggest startup investment of the year—Bible Chap, a mobile app for Christian communities, raised $14 million.
