-Romania was visited by 2.1 million foreign tourists in 2024, 11% more than in 2023, who spent a total of RON6.5 billion (EUR1.3 billion), namely, an average value of RON3,024 per person, according to data from the National Institute of Statistics (INS).
FINANCE
-Raiffeisen Bank S.A. announced on March 19 that Moody’s has affirmed its ratings, maintaining a Baa1 long-term deposit rating, Baa1 senior unsecured bond rating, and Baa2 senior non-preferred debt rating.
-Banca Comercială Română (BCR) launched Romania’s first fully electric mobile bank, a modular truck designed to bring modern banking services to rural communities and small towns.
-tbi bank, an alternative payment solutions provider operating in Romania, Bulgaria, Greece, Germany, and Lithuania, reported a net profit of EUR 50 million in 2024, an 18% increase from the previous year, based on unaudited consolidated results.
-A survey by the Healthy Investment Central and Eastern Europe (HICEE) project found that Romania remains one of the top four destinations for private equity investments in Central and Eastern Europe, attracting 8% of total regional investments.
-Agroland Business System S.A., Romania’s largest agricultural store network operator, listed its second bond issuance on the Bucharest Stock Exchange’s Multilateral Trading System (SMT). The RON 6.92 million issuance offers a fixed annual interest rate of 9.75% and will mature in 2028.
COMPANIES
-Hidroelectrica, Romania’s largest state-run electricity producer, has allocated RON 660 million (EUR 130 million) for diversification projects in 2025, including solar power developments.
