-The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has committed €15 million to Morphosis Capital Fund II, a private equity fund managed by Morphosis Capital Partners, to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and lower mid-market companies in Romania and across Central and Eastern Europe (CEE).
-The European Commission has ruled that the EUR 200 million (RON 1 billion) recapitalization of state-owned CEC Bank does not constitute state aid, affirming that the measure is in line with EU state aid regulations.
-Shareholders of Banca Transilvania, Romania’s largest lender, are set to meet in April to approve the distribution of the bank’s 2024 net profit, which exceeded RON 3.53 billion. The proposed dividend payout would see approximately RON 1.6 billion, or 45% of earnings, returned to shareholders.
-Romania’s investment landscape is showing an intriguing shift. Over 600,000 Romanians now invest in cryptocurrencies, according to Horia Gustă, president of the Association of Fund Administrators (AAF), as cited by Economica.net. In contrast, the Bucharest Stock Exchange currently counts just 220,000 investors, highlighting the growing popularity of digital assets over traditional equity markets.
