Romanian authorities issued 7,630 residential building permits in the first quarter of 2025, marking a 2.8% increase compared to the same period in 2024, according to data released by the National Institute of Statistics (INS) on April 30.
FINANCE
-BCR Group, the Romanian subsidiary of Erste Group, posted a net profit of RON742 million (€149 million) in Q1 2025, a 19.8% increase year-over-year. The rise was driven by improved operating results and a significant uptick in customer business.
-BRD, Romania’s fifth-largest bank by assets, recorded a net profit of RON350 million, up 7.2% from Q1 2024. Both retail and corporate lending showed strong double-digit growth.
-OMV Petrom, the country’s only oil and gas producer, reported sales of RON9 billion in Q1 2025, up 5% from the year-earlier period. However, net profit declined 24% to RON1.07 billion, reflecting cost pressures and global market volatility.
DIVIDEND HIGHLIGHTS FROM LISTED COMPANIES
Purcari: Plans to distribute RON0.65/share (4.2% yield).
Romgaz (SNG): Approved a gross dividend of RON0.1568/share, totaling nearly RON604 million.
Premier Energy (PE.RO): Will pay EUR15 million (RON75 million) in dividends, equal to EUR0.12 (RON0.6)/share.
Sphera Franchise Group (SFG): Shareholders approved a RON1.09/share dividend for financial years 2023–2024.
Hidroelectrica (H2O): Will distribute over RON4 billion in dividends from 2024 net profit.
EVERGENT Investments (EVER): Approved dividends, a share repurchase plan, and their 2025 budget.
Biofarm (BIO.RO): Shareholders greenlit the distribution of RON74.4 million from the 2024 net profit.
Aquila Part Prod (AQ.RO): Will distribute approximately RON60 million in dividends on June 6, following shareholder approval on April 29. The company remains a key player in distribution and logistics for Romania and Moldova.

-ENGIE Romania has acquired a 54 MW wind energy project located in Mereni, Constanta County, reinforcing its renewable energy portfolio.
