CAPITAL MARKET COMMENTARY

Bucharest traded in the red on Tuesday in line with rest of Europe as traders followed U.S. Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell’s congressional testimony. Powell warned interest rates are likely to be higher than central bank policymakers previously expected. The European Central Bank’s Holzmann had already hinted at more rate hikes by the ECB, and Powell’s remarks today added to concerns about rate hikes, rendering the mood in the market a bit bearish.
