ECONOMY

-Romania posted record automotive production last year, as over 507,000 vehicles were manufactured in the country, Adrian Sandu, secretary general of the Association of Automobile Manufacturers of Romania (ACAROM) told a conference on Monday (April 10).

-Nearly 7000 farmers are protesting in the country against European Community policies, and 400 farmers are expected in the capital, Nicu Vasile, president of the League of Agricultural Producers Association of Romania (LAPAR), told Agerpres on Friday (April 7).

-The National Bank of Romania (BNR) is launching on Monday (April 10), for numismatic purposes, a silver coin dedicated to Timisoara 2023 – European Capital of Culture.

-The country’s trade balance posted a deficit of EUR4.38 billion in the first two months of 2023, down 5% y-o-y, data from National Institute of Statistics (INS) showed.

The local M&A market reached $2.5 billion in the first quarter of 2023.

-The three-month ROBOR index, the interbank interest rate used as a reference to calculate variable interests for loans in lei taken out before May 2019, dropped to 6.82% a year on Friday (April 7).

-The Romanian privately managed pension funds will end this year with an average annual yield of 5%-6%, Economica.net estimates citing the vice president of CFA Romania, Adrian Codirlasu.

The mergers and acquisitions (M&A) market recorded 57 transactions in the first quarter of 2023, excluding transactions with stakes acquired that are below 15%, which is a deal volume equal to that recorded in the first quarter of 2022, an analysis by EY reveals.

Bucharest stocks traded in the green on Monday. One United Properties, the leading green investor and developer of residential, mixed-use and office real estate, led the blue-chip gains, as its share price rose 3.38% to 0.888 lei.
