10:29 Romania’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bogdan Aurescu, held, on Wednesday, a telephonic conversation with his Swedish counterpart, Tobias Billstrom, with the two top diplomats agreeing to “maintain close coordination on the discussed issues, primarily on the topic Romania’s accession to the Schengen area”, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE).


11:17 The average gross nominal wage in Romania in November 2022 stood at RON 6,679 (EUR 1352) up 3.4% compared to October 2022, while the average net nominal wage stood at RON 4,141 (838) up 3.3% m-o-m, the National Institute of Statistics data showed.

Bucharest stocks indices turned in a mixed performance on Thursday as the European Central Bank (ECB) said that the average inflation rate is expected to fall to 6.3% this year, before declining further to an average of 3.4% in 2024 and 2.3% in 2025. To achieve the 2% inflation target, the ECB stated that interest rates will still have to rise significantly at a steady pace to reach levels restrictive enough to return to the target range.
