POLITICS
The Standing Electoral Authority (AEP) announced on Friday (Nov. 1) that there were 19,002,912 Romanians eligible to vote featuring in the Electoral Register as of October 31, 2024.
ECONOMY
–In September 2024, industrial production prices for the total (domestic market and non-domestic market) decreased by 1.8% compared to August 2024, the National Institute of Statistics data showed.
FINANCE
-The Ministry of Finance has planned loans of almost 6.5 billion RON from banks, in November 2024 and and will be intended for refinancing the public debt and financing
COMPANIES
-The Romanian entrepreneurs who applied to the 2022 edition of the Startup Nation grant scheme which uses national budget funds to support startups with a maximum of 200 000 lei (about 43 000 Euro) have been waiting, in some cases, for more than a year for the money, according to Economedia.ro report.
-Romania’s telco Digi Romania launches mobile and fixed services in Portugal. The Bucharest-listed firm had bought Nowo Communications, Portugal’s fourth-largest telco for €150mn in August.
-A total of 4,392 new companies with foreign capital were established in Romania in January-September 2024, down 16.22% compared to the same period in 2023, according to the data centralized by the National Trade Registry Office (ONRC). The companies had a subscribed capital in the total amount of 16,902 million dollars, down 85.44% compared to the subscribed capital of companies registered in the first nine months of 2023, of 116,079 million dollars.
TOURISM
-In September 2024, the arrivals in the establishments of tourists’ reception with functions of tourists’ accommodation, including apartments and rooms for rent, increased by 0.1%, and the overnight stays decreased by 2.1% compared to the same month a year ago, the National Institute of Statistics showed.

Bucharest stocks closed in the red on Monday mirroring the trend across Europe as investors largely stayed cautious and refrained from making big moves ahead of U.S. Presidential election, and the Federal Reserve’s monetary policy announcement, due on Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively. The value of the transactions on the BVB stood at 55.08 million RON (11.07 million euros). |
