Bucharest Stock Exchange opened in the green on Monday (Nov. 11), as major European markets also opened higher with investors turning their attention to key inflation and economic reports due this week.
ECONOMY
-Romania’s annual inflation rate will increase slightly in the last months of 2024 and will display a marked fluctuation in the first half of 2025, staying above the target band and the previously anticipated values, the National Bank of Romania (BNR) said in its November 2024 Inflation Report.
-A total of 4,706,791 pensioners were registered in Romania last month, which is 28,077 fewer compared to September. The average pension stoo at RON 2,735 lei data centralised by the National House of Public Pensions (CNPP) showed.
-Farmland prices in Romania have seen a dramatic rise over the past decade, with some regions such as Bucharest-Ilfov experiencing inceases of up to 40%, according to a new report by Appraisal & Valuation SA.
-In September 2024, the FOB exports amounted to 8148.1 million euro and the CIF imports amounted to 10719.6 million euro, a commercial deficit of 2571.5 million euro being registered. Compared to September 2023, the exports increased by 0.3% and the imports increased by 4.2% in September 2024, the National Institute of Statistics (INSSE) showed.
FINANCE
-Banca Transilvania, the largest lender in Romania, posted RON3.9 billion consolidated net profit in the first nine months of 2024, up 70% on an annual basis, while its operating income was 29% higher at RON7.22 billion, amid organic growth and acquisitions.
-Raiffeisen Digital Bank AG, one of the new digital banks appearing in Romania, will cease its operations and close its current banking activity in the country starting from 11.03.2025, the bank announced.
COMPANIES
– Orsova shipyard posted RON5.6 million net profit in the January-September 2024 period, up 41% on an annual basis.
-Real estate developer One United Properties registered RON1 billion turnover in the first nine months of 2024, down 10% on an annual basis and a RON298.6 million net profit, down 13%.
-OMV Petrom, the largest integrated energy producer in Southeastern Europe, signed an EPCC – Engineering & Design, Procurement, Execution & Commissioning – type contract for the photovoltaic park of Isalnita, Dolj, which will have an annual production of 130 GWh and installed capacity of around 89 MWp.
