ECONOMY
-Romania’s Gross Domestic Product recorded an increase by 1.1%, as against the same quarter of 2023 for unadjusted series and a decrease by 0.2% for seasonally adjusted
series, the National Institute of Statistics data showed.
-Economies in Poland and Romania stumbled as weak consumer demand was compounded by stagnation in Germany, adding to a picture of struggling growth across the European Union’s east, Bloomberg wrote. In Romania, growth stagnated as weak consumption sapped a raft of government spending on infrastructure and social benefits.
-Non-residents’ direct investments in Romania in the first nine months of 2024 stood at EUR 5,362 million, up 3.69% from the EUR 5,171 million in the similar period a year ago, the National Bank of Romania (BNR) said.
FINANCE
-State-owned Romanian banking institution CEC Bank has redeemed RON660 million worth of notes listed on the Bucharest Stock Exchange and due in December 2025.
-The board of directors of Banca Transilvania (BT), Romania’s largest lender, has convened the Extraordinary General Meeting of Shareholders for Dec. 18 in Cluj-Napoca when they will vote on the merger with OTP Bank Romania and BT Building, a company specializing in real estate leasing and sub-leasing. BT acquired OTP Bank Romania in July 2024.
– Infinity Capital Investments, an alternative investment fund listed on the Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB) for 25 years, ended the first nine months of 2024 with RON137.8 million net profit, up 179% compared to the same period a year ago.
COMPANIES
– Nuclearelectrica, the only producer of nuclear energy in Romania, in the first nine months of 2024 registered RON3.39 operating income, down 40% compared to the same period a year ago, while net profit decreased by 35%, to RON1.28 billion.
– Transelectrica, Romania’s national power grid operator, ended the first nine months of 2024 with RON1.74 operating income, up 16% compared to year-earlier period.
-Romanian telecommunications holding company Digi Communications posted EUR1.4 billion revenues in January-September 2024, EBITDA EUR435 million while net profit stood at EUR397 million.
-Meta Estate Trust, a publicly traded holding company operating in Romania’s real estate sector, reported RON25.5 million revenues in the first nine months of 2024, up 65% compared to the same period in 2023.
-IMMO GURU, a company that operates in the field of leasing own real estate property, both in the short term and in the long term, debuts today on the Bucharest Stock Exchange AeRO market.
