ECONOMY
-As of 18 November 2024, the National Bank of Romania will put into circulation, for numismatic purposes, a gold coin and a silver coin to mark 300 years since the building of Stavropoleos Monastery Church in Bucharest. The maximum mintage is 1,000 for the gold coin and 5,000 for the silver coin.
-Most managers in Romania (71%) are moderately or highly concerned about the country’s economy in the coming period, according to the latest Confidex survey about the confidence of the business environment in the local economy, conducted by Impetum Group.
FINANCE
-Romania’s finance ministry on Monday (Nov 18) rejected all bids for government bonds maturing in May 2027, as it deemed the bid price unacceptable, the National Bank of Romania (BNR) data showed.
-One United Properties, the leading green investor and developer of residential, mixed-use, and office real estate in Romania, announced a financing facility for the development of One Technology District, the largest semiconductor chip R&D centre in Southeastern Europe currently being developed for Infineon Technologies. The financing includes a loan to be used for the construction of the development in the amount of EUR 28.5 million, which will be increased to an investment loan of EUR 37.5 million once the building is completed. The company also received a EUR 4 million VAT line.
-Nusco Imobiliara, part of the Nusco group controlled by Italian family Nusco in Romania, plans to list bonds on the Bucharest Stock Exchange. This decision marks the company’s debut in investor relations. Nusco Imobiliara has erected Nusco Tower (23,000 sqm class A office), the first office building in Bucharest’s Northern region.
COMPANIES
-In the first nine months of 2024 the number of dissolved companies in Romania grew by 6.9% reaching 30,094, up from 28,146 in the same period a year ago, data from the National Trade Registry Office (ONRC) showed.
-OMV Petrom, the largest integrated energy producer in Southeastern Europe, operator of the Neptun Deep project, announced that Transocean Barents, the semi-submersible mobile offshore drilling unit contracted for Neptun Deep, arrived in Constanța. The Neptun Deep project is developed by OMV Petrom and Romgaz. Drilling is expected to start in 2025. The total production is estimated at around 100 billion cubic meters of natural gas.
