-Romania’s Finance Ministry on Thursday (October 27) borrowed RON722 million from banks via a bond issue due in October 2027, at an annual average yield of 9.26% (Ziarul Financiar)

-Romania is living its best time in its entire history, with a GDP four times higher than in 1989, but it is witnessing a demographic cataclysm, NATO Deputy Secretary General Mircea Geoana told a “Future of Europe” conference organised by the National Bank of Romania and the Bucharest University of Economic Studies – Faculty of International Economic Affairs on Thursday (Oct. 27)

COMPANIES & MARKET

-Romanian business managers expect a steep increase of prices in the processing industry, constructions and trade, as well as a falling number of employees in constructions and more employees in trade between October-December 2022, a survey conducted by the National Institute of Statistics reveals.

-Bucharest-listed Romgaz, the largest natural gas producer and the main supplier in Romania, on Thursday (October 27) announced conclusion of three deals with Engie Romania, Electrocentrale Bucuresti and E.ON Energie Romania, according to a report submitted to the Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB).

-Bucharest-listed OMV Petrom Group, the largest integrated energy company in Southern and Eastern Europe, has reported RON 9.156 billion in net profit for the Jan-Sept 2022 period, more than five times higher y-o-y, amid high prices for coal and natural gas, according to the company’s unaudited financial reports for published on the website of the BVB.

-Romania’s population stood at 21.943 million people on July 1, 2022, by domicile, down by 0.5% y-o-y, 2021, INS data showed.

-A number of 90,947 people entered Romania through border points throughout the country, of whom 8,406 were Ukrainian citizens, decreasing by almost 4% compared to the previous day, according to the General Inspectorate of the Border Police (IGPF).
