POLITICS
-Romania’s President Klaus Iohannis is participating, on Monday, in the State Funeral of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, organized at Westminster Abbey in London.
-Prime Minister Nicolae Ciuca stated that the government will submit a second request for payment under Recovery and Resilience Plan to the European Commission in October.
-Dan Carbunaru, the spokesperson of the government, has announced that the estimates of the ministry of finances show that Romania will draw until the end of this year the sum of almost 12 billion euro, European funds, either through the multiannual financial exercise or through the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR).
ECONOMY
-The price of gas has increased by 20% since the beginning of the year, and that of diesel fuel by 37%, including the reduction of 0.5 RON per liter at the pump, according to the data provided by the Competition Council, at the request of national press agency Agerpres.
-The annual inflation rate in the Eurozone stood at 9.1% in August , while in the European Union (EU) it jumped to 10.1%. The member states with the highest rates being Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Poland, the Netherlands, Slovakia and Romania, Eurostat data showed.
-The goods loaded and unloaded in the ports where maritime vessels are operated totaled 29.472 million tonnes in the first half of 2022, the transport of containers totaling 313,000 TEU, National Institute of Statistics (INS) data showed.
COMPANIES & MARKET
-The total volume of construction works, in unadjusted terms, increased by 4.7% in the first seven months of 2022 y-o-y and by 2.7% as workday and seasonally adjusted series, National Institute of Statistics data showed.
-Over 1 million transactions were carried out through the Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB) in the first 8 months of this year, almost 42% more than in the same period last year.
-Romanian real estate company One United Properties shares were upgraded on September 19 within the FTSE Global Equity Index Series for Emerging Europe, moving from the small cap to mid-cap category.
SOCIAL
-A number of 241,400 persons entered Romania on Saturday through all border crossing points nationwide, out of whom 11,173 Ukrainian citizens, increasing 4.3% from the previous day, according to the Border Police Inspectorate General (IGPF).
