POLITICS

-Romania’ Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bogdan Aurescu, took part, as a special guest, in the annual meeting of the ambassadors of the Republic of Moldova, on which occasion he conveyed Romania’s “full” and “multidimensional” support for the neighboring country and its citizens.

ECONOMY

-The country’s annual inflation rate is expected to see minor fluctuations in Q3 and then take to a downward gradual trend for three quarters, according to the minutes of the monetary policy meeting of the National Bank of Romania’s Board of Directors of August 5, 2022.

-The number of wage earners in Bucharest stood at 1,064,585 in May, as against 1,043,257 in the same month a year ago, National Institute of Statistics (INS) data showed.

COMPANIES & MARKET

-Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB) shares will be included, from September 19, in FTSE Russell indices dedicated to emerging markets, according to the stock market operator’s announcement.

-There are 7,190 companies that suspended their business in the first six months of 2022 in Romania, up 18.98% y-o-y, according to data released by the National Companies Registry Office (ONRC).
