POLITICS
– The Danube’s sinking water levels due to drought have cut off irrigation supplies in the southern counties of Teleorman, Olt and Dolj, Minister of Agriculture Petre Daea announced.
-Jordan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi will be in Romania on Tuesday at the invitation of the head of the Romanian diplomacy, Bogdan Aurescu, according to the Romanian Foreign Ministry (MAE).
ECONOMY
– The government has adopted a piece of legislation by which payment service providers, recte banks, exchange offices, payment operators must clearly display the fees charged for conversion from RON to EURO and vice versa, both at an ATM and at a point of sale, according to a press release issued by the Ministry of Economy.
-Private lending increased by 17.5% to RON352.8 billion in June 2022 compared with same month a year ago, as local currency lending grew by 19% and foreign currency lending by 13.7%, National Bank of Romania data showed on Monday.
COMPANIES & MARKET
– Romanian integrated oil company OMV Petrom, controlled by Austria’s OMV, ended the first half of this year with a natural gas production of 1.7 billion cubic meters, down 11% y-o-y. The Bucharest-based company is one of the largest corporations in Romania and the largest oil and gas producer in Southeast Europe.
– Cupru Min, a company specialised in the production of copper and copper ore, will receive over 43 million RON for investments, said the Minister of Economy, Florin Spataru, on Sunday, who was on a work visit to this company in Abrud, Alba County, Romania, which is subordinated to the Ministry of Economy.
