POLITICS

-Romanian President Klaus Iohannis will participate, on Thursday (Oct. 6) and Friday (Oct. 7), in the first meeting of the European Political Community and in the informal meeting of the European Council in Prague, Czech Republic, the Presidential Administration informs.

-A 2021-2027 partnership agreement between the European Commission and Romania was signed on Wednesday (Oct. 5) in the Romanian city of Alba Iulia by European Commissioner for Cohesion and Reforms Elisa Ferreira, Prime Minister Nicolae Ciuca and the Minister of European Investment and Projects Marcel Bolos, Agerpres reported.

-The Government approved on Wednesday (Oct. 5) the decision regarding the organization and establishment of the Investment and Development Bank, Minister of Finance Adrian Caciu announced.

ECONOMY

-Romania has used up 67% of its European funds for the years 2014-2020, but the funds can still be absorbed until December 2023, according to Government spokesperson Dan Carbunaru.

-Household monthly income averages stood at 6,241 RON in Q2 with expenses standing at 86.1% of incomes, official data show.

-France and Romania are the EU member countries with the largest current account deficits in the second quarter, according to estimates released by Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union.

COMPANIES & MARKET

-US fast-food giant McDonald’s ended the first half of this year with EUR136.6 million revenue in Romania, up 25% y-o-y.

-London-headquartered Deloitte, the largest professional services firm in the world, celebrates 30 years of presence on the Romanian market, during which time it has reached a team of some 3000 advisors from an initial team of five employees.

-Almost half of the participants (45%)to the most recent survey organized by online recruiting platform eJobs Romania confess that, at present, they try to change their job, reason for which they apply constantly and go to interviews.
