– Accession to the OECD is one of the country’s most important goals and will allow Romania to join some of the most developed countries in the world, Prime Minister Nicolae Ciuca said, on Tuesday, Agerpres reported.

-The government will approve a decision by which all students facing socio-economic difficulties will benefit from social scholarships of 200 lei, the Minister of Education, Sorin Cimpeanu, stated.

ECONOMY

-Romania could help Moldova’s capital market development, the president of the Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB), Radu Hanga told a specialized forum on Tuesday.

-In the period January-July 2022, Romania’s industrial production dropped 1.3% as unadjusted data and 2.2% when adjusted for seasonality and working days, both y-o-y, National Institute of Statistics (INS) data showed.

-75% of Romanian consumers willing to invest in energy efficiency projects plan to resort to bank financing, above the European average of 64%, according to the European Retail Banking Radar survey released by Kearney.

COMPANIES & MARKET

– Romania’s car production increased by 15.5% y-o-y to 330,400 vehicles in January-August 2022, data from the country’s carmakers association ACAROM showed.

-The number of companies in Romania that set off insolvency proceedings went up by 16% y-o-y in the first half of 2022 y-o-y, according to the latest survey conducted by Coface Romania in August 2022.

-Roughly 40% of employees would look for another job if their employers asked them to work mainly from the office, a survey conducted at the end of August by Undelucram.ro, the largest online community of employees in Romania showed.

SOCIAL

-On Tuesday, 73,865 people entered Romania, through the border crossing points, out of whom 9,422 were Ukrainian citizens, up 2.4% compared to the previous day, the General Inspectorate of the Border Police informed.
