POLITICS
-The government is set to approve on Thursday (Nov. 17) the last budget revision this year, Prime Minister Nicolae Ciuca announced, stressing that an additional amount of about 500 million RON will be earmarked for fulfilling commitments under European projects, paying salary rights and social benefits, as well as for drought damage compensations, Agerpres reported.
-Deputy Prime Minister Kelemen Hunor, the national leader of the Hungarian Democratic Union of Romania (UDMR), stated that the European Commission’s announcement regarding Romania’s accession to the Schengen Area confirms that the country has been meeting the technical criteria for accession for a long time, Agerpres reported.
-Romania’s Defence Minister Angel Tilvar is attending, November 16-17, a meeting of the South Eastern Europe Defence Ministerial (SEDM) organisation in Sofia, under the SEDM Bulgarian chairmanship.

-Romania will allocate over 2% of the Defense budget for research and over 20% for investments, said on Wednesday, Rear Admiral Ion-Cristian Lisman, Deputy for Resources of the Chief of the Defense Staff.
-The Chamber of Deputies on Wednesday passed slashing RON 0.50 off fuel prices throughout December 31, 2022, 157 to 91 and five abstentions.
-The sum foreign tourists spent on tourism services provided by local providers reached EUR3 billion in January-September 2022, National Bank of Romania data showed.

-Automobile Dacia and Ford, Romania’s two automakers, manufactured 425,423 passenger cars in the first ten months of 2022, almost 30% up y-o-y, Romania’s carmakers association ACAROM data showed.
-Transport Trade Services recorded consolidated revenue of RON664.3 million in January-September 2022, up 47.3% y-o-y, according to the financial report of the biggest integrated freight shipper on the Danube.
-NEPI Rockcastle, a leading investor and developer of commercial property in Central and Eastern Europe and the largest shopping mall owner in Romania, has opened flexible office spaces in five shopping centers in Romania. The first unit is now open in Promenada Mall, Bucharest.
