POLITICS
-The achievement of peace in the Middle East remains a priority on Romania’s foreign agenda, President Klaus Iohannis said on Tuesday after meeting with his Palestinian counterpart Mahmoud Abbas in Bucharest.
-Half of Ukraine’s grain shipments since the onset of the war have passed through Romania, visiting Irish Minister of Foreign Affairs and Defence Simon Coveney told a joint press conference with his Romanian counterpart Bogdan Aurescu on Tuesday.
ECONOMY
-Private consumption increased in the second quarter of 2022 compared with the same period a year ago, while investments followed a downward trend, which makes a decisive impact on the decline of the annual GDP dynamics, partly because of the sizeable drop in construction works in April, National Bank of Romania’s latest monetary policy meeting minutes revealed.
-Country will have less corn and sunflower available for export Agriculture Minister Petre Daea said in an interview with Bloomberg Tuesday. Local supplies are a priority.
-Construction works increased by 16.7% in May m-o-m in gross series, whole in adjusted series there was a 4.6% advance, National Institute of Statistics data showed.
COMPANIES & MARKET
-The number of natural and juridical persons registered in January-May 2022 fell 6.5%, compared to the same period in 2021, to 62,777, of which 46,783 are limited companies, according to data centralized by the National Office of Trade Registrar (ONRC).
-The number of dissolved companies increased by 19.56% in the first five months of this year, to 13,694, compared to 11,454 in the same period of 2021, ONRC data showed.
