POLITICS

-President Klaus Iohannis will participate, on Thursday and Friday, in Brussels, in the meeting of the European Council.

-Minister of Development, Public Works and Administration Cseke Attila signed on Thursday 14 new contracts financed under Component 5 – Renovation Wave of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP).

-Natural gas stocks have currently reached almost 93% and by November 1 they will be covered in a proportion of 95-97%, Minister of Energy Virgil Popescu announced on Thursday.

ECONOMY

-A number of 4,790,807 pensioners were registered in September in Romania with the average pension standing at 1,735 RON (1 euro=4.9357 RON), National House of Public Pension (CNPP) data show.

-Agricultural production worth almost 104 billion lei in 2021. The crop production holds the highest share (71.2%) in the structure of the agricultural production value, followed by the animal production (27.0%) and by agricultural services (1.8%).

COMPANIES & MARKET

-OMV Petrom, the largest integrated energy company in Southern and Eastern Europe, has announced the completion of its share capital operation, which enabled it to raise RON446 million from investors, the only local oil and gas producer, said in a report to the Bucharest Stock Exchange.

-US-based Vanguard, one of the world’s largest investment companies, bought 1.52% of Bucharest-listed real estate developer One United Properties shares via the Bucharest Stock Exchange, Ziarul Financiar has found from fund reports as of August 31, 2022.

-Foreign Investors Council, an association that brings together the leading foreign-held investors in Romania, says Romania needs stable and predictable legal framework to boost investments.

-Romania’s electronic commerce market is expected to grow by 10% year-over-year and reach almost EUR6.8 billion at the end of 2022, according to a survey by iSense Solutions.

SOCIAL

Approximately 145,000 people, Romanian and foreign nationals, and over 43,000 means of transport underwent border checks at all of Romania’s crossing points on Wednesday, on both the inbound and the outbound, according to the General Border Police Inspectorate (IGPF).
