POLITICS

-Romania’s premier Nicolae Ciuca on Tuesday had a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Ayman Safadi and the two top diplomats addressed topics like the management of the flow of refugees, as well as aspects related to bilateral cooperation.

ECONOMY

-Romania’s mid-year consolidated budget deficit increased to 1.71% of GDP from 1.57% of GDP over January-May 2022, the Finance Ministry informed. H1 budget revenues stood at 216.7 billion RON, up 22.9% year-over-year.

COMPANIES & MARKET

-Industrial and logistics leasing activity increased by 50% in the first half of the year compared to the same period a year ago totaling 542,000 square meters, according to Cushman & Wakefield Echinox data.

-OTP Bank Romania, part of OTP Bank Group-the largest commercial bank of Hungary- was selected by the Romanian state to join the Start-up Nation 2022 program implemented by Romania’s Ministry for Business Environment, Trade and Entrepreneurship.

SOCIAL

-Romanian individual consumers, small and medium-sized enterprises, social services and critical industry will not be affected by possible additional cuts in natural gas use, the government said on Tuesday in a social media post.
