18:30 The recently proposed regulation by the European Commission for the correction of the price of natural gas represents rather an invitation to price increases, and not a capping mechanism, Virgil Popescu Minister of Energy, wrote on Facebook.

10:32 Romanian President Klaus Iohannis will pay an official visit to Lithuania, on Thursday (Nov. 24), where he will meet his counterpart Gitanas Nauseda, as well as Lithuania’s Speaker of the Seimas (Parliament) Viktorija Cmilyte-Nielsen.

18:15 One in five Romanian households spends more than 60 percent of their income on rent, double the European average, according to a diagnostic study on quality, sustainable and affordable housing launched by the Economic and Social Council (CES).

14:52 Private lending in Romania increased by 14.7% in nominal terms (-0.5% in real terms) in October to RON363.59 billion y-o-y, as local currency lending grew by 12.4% (+2.6% in real terms) and foreign currency lending expressed in lei by 20.7% (+21.6% in real terms when expressed in euros), National Bank of Romania data showed. Meanwhile, the value of loans extended by non-banking financial institutions (NFIs) in Romania reached a record level of over 41 billion RON at mid-2022, after a 9.2% advance in the first 6 months of this year (compared to the same period in 2021), a KeysFin analysis reveals.

09:56 The Minister of Public Finances, Adrian Câciu, stated that the minimum salary “certainly” will be 3,000 lei, a few hours before the Tripartite National Council scheduled for Thursday (Nov. 24), Digi24 reported.

17:43 Bucharest places 37th in a ranking of the world’s most expensive shopping streets, with Calea Victoriei the city’s main retail street, having an average rent of EUR53/sqm/month, according to a new global ranking from real estate services firm Cushman & Wakefield. The Main Streets Across the World report tracks the top retail streets across 92 cities.

10: 27 EU labor supplier Romania turns to Asia to cover its own gaps, Bloomberg reported on Wednesday (Nov. 23) explaining the shortages of workers and highlighting future challenges.

10: 18 Romania ranks at the bottom of the “Transparency Index of the car market”, which analyzes the transactions with used cars in Europe and makes a ranking of the most transparent second-hand car markets. The index is part of a study by carVertical.

09: 21 In 2023, more than 20,000 medium-sized taxpayers in Romania must submit Declaration 406 (SAF-T – Standard Audit File for Tax), but 90% of them are not yet ready to transfer the necessary data to the country’s tax agency ANAF, although it is mandatory from January 1st, 2023, Ziarul Financiar reported citing NextUp Solutions, one of the largest software solutions companies for business.

09: 18 The Board of Directors of Bucharest-listed Romgaz Medias, Romania’s largest natural gas producer, decided to extend the mandate of Razvan Popescu as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the company for another four months, from December 18, 2022 to April 18, 2023.

10:11 U.S.-based technology giant IBM, one of the biggest employers on the Romanian IT market, announced on Wednesday that it has appointed Cerasela Venera Baiculescu as Country Leader for IBM Romania and Moldova.

09:56 As many as 59,425 people, including 7,439 Ukrainian citizens, up 6% on a daily basis, entered Romania on Wednesday (Nov. 23) according to the General Border Police Inspectorate (IGPF).
