Bucharest equities closed lower on Friday (Dec. 23) as markets wind down for the Christmas holidays. Electrica led the blue-chip decliners. The electric company’s shares slumped 2.10% to close at 8.4000 points. The Bucharest bourse will be closed on Monday (Dec. 26) due to Christmas holidays.

10:57 One person died and at least 22 were injured when a tourist bus carrying 47 Greek nationals hit into the metal beam of an overhead traffic sign in Bucharest on Friday (Dec. 23) afternoon. The Romanian Ministry of Health said the accident happened at around 1.30 p.m., at the entrance to Pasajul Unirii, an underground road passage with a length of 900 meters passing under Piata Unirii. The Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Athens confirmed on Friday that three of the injured are in “serious condition” and that Embassy of Greece in Bucharest officials remain at the hospitals to offer all possible assistance to the injured.
