Equity markets across Southeast Europe closed mixed today, echoing a broader trend across the continent as the European Central Bank (ECB) issued a warning that tariff policies and persistent geopolitical uncertainties could negatively impact financial stability in the euro area. Gains in Athens, Sofia, Nicosia, and Banja Luka contrasted with declines in Sarajevo, Zagreb, Bucharest, Belgrade, and Ljubljana, while other markets saw limited or no activity. Overall, investors weighed local developments against a backdrop of cautious sentiment from Frankfurt to the Balkans.


The Sarajevo Stock Exchange’s (SASE) 10-share benchmark SASX10 index was off 0.30% to settle at 1.359,40 points.

The Banja Luka bourse (BLSE)’s 12-share BIRS equity index was higher by 0.23% to finish at 849,97 points.


In Sofia, the main equity index SOFIX of the Bulgarian Stock Exchange (BSE) comprising 15 key stocks gained 1.13% ending the session at 975.84 points.


In Zagreb, CROBEX index tracking 20 major stocks on the Zagreb Stock Exchange (ZSE) declined 0.59% to reach 3,454.19 points.


In Nicosia, the general index of the Cyprus Stock Exchange (CSE) which follows 38 listed companies rose 0.23% to end the day at 253.03 points.


In Greece, the general index of the Athens Exchange, which tracks 61 large-cap companies, was up 0.45% to settle at 1,835.7900 points. The session’s biggest gain came from Athens International Airport, whose shares jumped 3.11%, leading the blue-chip gainers.


On the Moldova Stock Exchange capital market activity remained modest today. According to official data: Number of securities traded: 8 Number of transactions: 1 Total trade volume: 4,960 Moldovan Lei (~$285.16).


In Podgorica, the Montenegro Stock Exchange (MNSE) was closed in observance of Independence Day.


In Skopje, the blue-chip MBI 10 index representing 10 selected blue-chip stocks on the North Macedonian Stock Exchange (MSE) was up 0.08% to reach 10,747.80 points.


In Romania, the BET index tracking the 20 most liquid stocks on the Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB) lost 0.64% to end at 17,234.52 points. Read more here.

The BELEX15 Index of the Belgrade Stock Exchange (BSE), covering the 15 largest and most liquid stocks was lower 0.48% to close at 1.158,75 points. The BSE’s market capitalization stood at RSD 484.094.260.321 (~EUR 4.128.971.637).


The Slovenian SBITOP index which which tracks the 9 most liquid stocks on the Ljubljana Stock Exchange declined 0.44% closing at 2,154.19 points.
