Southeastern European stock markets presented a mixed picture today, with gains observed in Cyprus, Greece, North Macedonia, Slovenia, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Bulgaria, while Romania and Montenegro experienced declines. Notably, Cyprus led the gains. Here’s a closer look at the key market movements.


The Sarajevo Stock Exchange’s (SASE) 10-share benchmark SASX10 index rose 0.39% to 1.314,66 points.

The Banja Luka bourse (BLSE)’s 12-share BIRS equity index was unchanged.


In Sofia, the main equity index SOFIX of the Bulgarian Stock Exchange (BSE) comprising 15 key stocks was higher by 0.25% to close at 899.92 points.


In Zagreb, CROBEX index tracking 20 major stocks on the Zagreb Stock Exchange (ZSE) gained 0.11% to finish at 3,333.57 points.


In Nicosia, the general index of the Cyprus Stock Exchange (CSE) which follows 38 listed companies grew by 1.73% to end at 235.51 points.


In Greece, the Athens Exchange (ATHEX) general index which tracks 61 Big Cap companies increased by 0.53% to close at 1,705.1600 points. Lavipharm led blue-chip gainers as the pharmaceutical firm saw its shares surging by 9.03%.


On Moldova Stock Exchange (MSE) there were no transactions today.


In Podgorica, the MNSE10, the leading index of the Montenegro Stock Exchange (MNSE) which reflects the 10 most representative shares was off 0.27% to end at 1.199,84 points.


In Skopje, the blue-chip MBI 10 index representing 10 selected blue-chip stocks on the North Macedonian Stock Exchange (MSE) was higher by 0.65% settling at 10,473.72 points.


In Romania, the BET index tracking the 20 most liquid stocks on the Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB) lost 0.64% to end at 17,287.20 points. Read more here.

The BELEX15 Index of the Belgrade Stock Exchange (BSE), covering the 15 largest and most liquid stocks increased by 0.22% to close at 1.149,07 points. Today’s BSE market capitalisation stood at RSD 477.443.876.390 (EUR 4.073.659.364).


The Slovenian SBITOP index which which tracks the 9 most liquid stocks on the Ljubljana Stock Exchange was up 0.57% closing at 2,024.93 points.
