SE Europe Capital Markets

Stock markets across Southeast Europe ended mostly lower on Monday, with broad declines reflecting the region’s sensitivity to rising global trade tensions and investor caution. The Slovenian SBITOP was the only major index in the green, while Greece’s ATHEX led regional losses with a sharp decline of nearly 3%.


The Sarajevo Stock Exchange was closed today in observance of Id-Ul-Fitr (Ramadan Eid).


The Banja Luka bourse (BLSE)’s 12-share BIRS equity index dropped 0.07% to finish at 871,05 points.


In Sofia, the main equity index SOFIX of the Bulgarian Stock Exchange (BSE) comprising 15 key stocks was lower by 0.79% to close at 903.53 points.


In Zagreb, CROBEX index tracking 20 major stocks on the Zagreb Stock Exchange (ZSE) lost 0.84% to finish at 3,301.36 points.


In Nicosia, the general index of the Cyprus Stock Exchange (CSE) which follows 38 listed companies fell 0.93% to close at 236.29 points.


In Greece, the Athens Exchange (ATHEX) general index which tracks 61 Big Cap companies plunged 2.91% to close at 1,685.2400 points. Piraeus Financial Holding led blue-chip losers as the company saw its shares tanking 6.52%.


On Moldova Stock Exchange (MSE) there were no transactions today.


In Podgorica, the MNSE10, the leading index of the Montenegro Stock Exchange (MNSE) which reflects the 10 most representative shares was off 0.98% to finish at 1.173,35 points.


In Skopje, the North Macedonian Stock Exchange (MSE) was closed today.


In Romania, the BET index tracking the 20 most liquid stocks on the Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB) declined 0.32% to end at 17,513.05 points. Read more here.

The BELEX15 Index of the Belgrade Stock Exchange (BSE), covering the 15 largest and most liquid stocks was lower by 0.18% to close at 1.157,35 points. Today’s BSE market capitalisation stood at RSD 478.168.008.536 (EUR 4.079.562.843).


The Slovenian SBITOP index which which tracks the 9 most liquid stocks on the Ljubljana Stock Exchange added 0.10% closing at 2,023.83 points.
