Southeast European stock markets delivered a mixed performance on Monday, diverging from the broader European trend where indices closed mostly lower as investors focused on the upcoming United Nations General Assembly in New York. Gains were seen in Greece, Romania, Montenegro, North Macedonia, and Banja Luka, while Croatia, Cyprus, Sarajevo, and Slovenia edged lower. Meanwhile, Belgrade remained flat, and trading in Sofia was halted for holidays.


In Sarajevo, the SASX-10 index ticked down 0.01%. Turnover on the Sarajevo Stock Exchange (SASE) reached 1.481,12 KM in today’s session, with 2 trades concluded and a total of 162 securities changing hands. The most actively traded stock was Bosnalijek d.d. Sarajevo, which generated the highest turnover of 345,00 KM.


The Banja Luka Stock Exchange’s BIRS index was higher by 1.08% settling at 839,25 points. Turnover totaled BAM 5.391,30 while the exchange’s market capitalization hovered around 1.012.997.392,43.


In Sofia, the Bulgarian Stock Exchange was closed on Monday, September 22, 2025 in observation of Independence Day.


The Zagreb Stock Exchange’s CROBEX index declined 0.36% to settle at 3,827.95 points. Turnover stood at EUR 2,149,221.06.


Cyprus’ general index was off 0.94% to end the session at 286.63 points. Total stock volume amounted to EUR 259,904.30 across 119 transactions. Of the listed companies, 4 posted gains, 6 declined, 4 remained unchanged, and 34 were not traded.


In Athens, the general index rose 0.60% to finish at 2,042.63 points. Evropi Holdings led blue-chip gainers as its shares soared 7.00%.


The Moldova Stock Exchange saw no trading activity today.


In Podgorica, Montenegro’s stock exchange MNSE 10 index added 1.37% settling at 1.175,06 points. The stock JGPK was the hit of the day, closing at a price of €15.28 It recorded a total trading volume of €12.606,88 executed through 4 transactions.


North Macedonia’s MBI-10 index gained 0.15% settling at 10,467.19 points. The market capitalization stood at MKD 272,366,833,700.

The Belgrade Stock Exchange’s BELEX15 index was unchanged finishing at 1.227,86 points. Market capitalisation stood at RSD 497.488.891.050

Finally, in Ljubljana, the SBITOP index dropped 0.36% to end at 2,473.10 points. Turnover stood at EUR 2,478,922.80.
