Major stock exchanges in Southeast Europe ended Thursday’s session mixed, reflecting the broader European trend, where key indices closed with gains after the Bank of England (BoE) decided to pause interest rate cuts, holding its benchmark rate steady at 4%. Within SEE, Greece, Romania, Serbia, Montenegro, Banja Luka, and Bulgaria advanced, while Cyprus, Croatia, North Macedonia, Sarajevo, and Slovenia posted declines.


In Sarajevo, the 10-share SASX-10 fell 0.06%. Shares of Bosnalijek d.d. Sarajevo were traded in the amount of BAM 3,262.00. In 2 transactions, 96 shares changed hands at a price of BAM 33.98.


The Banja Luka Stock Exchange’s BIRS index was higher by 0.36% settling at 829,21 points. Turnover totaled BAM 20.402,00 while the exchange’s market capitalization hovered around BAM 1.010.272.785,79.


In Sofia, the main equity index SOFIX grew by 0.31% settling at 1 068.76 points. The total turnover on the Bulgarian Stock Exchange’s market (including the Main, Alternative, beam and MTF BSE International markets) stood at EUR 3 073 955 (BGN 6 012 135).


The Zagreb Stock Exchange’s CROBEX index lost 0.16% to settle at 3,822.56 points. Turnover stood at EUR 2,145,065.80.


Cyprus’ general index was off 0.66% to end the session at 288.52 points. Total stock volume amounted to EUR 652,840.68 across 164 transactions. Of the listed companies, 3 posted gains, 9 declined, 5 remained unchanged, and 31 were not traded.


In Athens, the general index rose 0.39% to finish at 2,027.04 points. Aegean Airlines led blue-chip gainers as its shares soared 4.43%.


The Moldova Stock Exchange saw no trading activity today.


In Podgorica, Montenegro’s stock exchange MNSE 10 index advanced 0.23% settling at 1.166,59 points. The stock ULRI was the hit of the day, closing at a price of €7 It recorded a total trading volume of €938 executed through one transaction.


North Macedonia’s MBI-10 index lost 0.21% settling at 10,441.42 points. The market capitalization stood at MKD 272,309,780,070.

The Belgrade Stock Exchange’s BELEX15 index added 0.29% finishing at 1.223,24 points. Market capitalisation stood at RSD 496.610.454.584

Finally, in Ljubljana, the SBITOP index lost 0.14% to end at 2,477.86 points. Turnover stood at EUR 6,069,276.90.
